Mrs. Thomas

Hello parents and students I am a new special education teacher at Colonial Beach High School. I have been teaching students with disabilities in most all categories of special education for 17 years. I have taught students in a collaborative setting at the middle school level and at the high school level. I have also taught students in a self-contained setting.
I have continued to be a life-long learner, as I hold a bachelor's degree from Old Dominion University in Human Services Counseling, a master's degree from University of Phoenix in Curriculum and Instruction, and a master's degree in Administration and Supervision from Regent University.
In teaching,

I like to build rapport with students as readily as possible. I want my students to know that I care about their education as well as their well-being. My philosophy is to nurture and encourage students to learn. I believe in meeting students where they are and then use strategies to build upon their learning.
I am a native of Lancaster County, Virginia, where I graduated from Lancaster High School (the mighty Red Devils!). I have one adult daughter. I also have a little Chihuahua named Pete, whom I just adore. I love to dance, watch movies, read and shop!
