Mission Statement
CBHS Counseling Mission Statement

The Colonial Beach High School Counseling Department will collaborate with administration, faculty, parents, and community members to provide a comprehensive school counseling program that supports the academic, career, personal, and social development of every individual student. The school counseling program will assist students in working towards their potentials as lifelong learners with a commitment to their communities and career fields.

People of all races, cultures, religious affiliations, abilities, beliefs, etc. will be valued, respected, and treated equally as an integral part of our school community.

All students will have equal access to CBHS School Counseling services, programming, and resources.

The School Counselor will advocate for the best interests of CBHS students.

All students contribute to the CBHS community through their diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, social, gender, religious, and individual backgrounds and experiences.

All students have the capacity to learn and achieve rigorous individual academic, career, and personal goals given adequate support and appropriate challenges.

The CBHS Counseling program will use data to assess the needs of our school and implement targeted interventions to address identified needs.

The CBHS Counseling program will align with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model and the Standards for School Counseling Programs in Virginia Public Schools.

The CBHS Counseling program supports the CBPS mission by helping students with academic, career, and personal/social development.

The School Counselor will participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay informed on best practices, evidence-based intervention strategies, and school counseling curriculum updates.
